Hello Readers!
I can't wait to hear from you all about what you are reading!  To add an entry simply click on the "comment" button and begin typing.  As mentioned to the right be sure to put your name, title of the book you are reading and a star * rating.
I just started a great book titled Rain, Reign by Ann M. Martin.  The main character reminds me of Melody from Out of My Mind.  I'll keep you posted on my story.  I'm looking forward to hearing about what you are reading.

Hi Mrs.Buffone! Back in Pennsylvania, our school had a club for 5th and 6th graders. It was called Reading Olympics. It was optional, and you had a long list of books, 55 of them, to read. Then you would go to a school in the district for a competition against other schools. The moderators would ask you random questions about the book and you and your team would answer. Anyway I'm sorry for going on a tangent. On the list were 2 books I enjoyed greatly. 1, The Orphan of Ellis Island, by Elvira Woodruff. and Windcatcher by Avi. Also a book our third grade teacher(who WAS also my fifth) read a book called The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo. And FINALLY our fourth grade teacher (who also was my kindergarten) read a book, written in 2013, won the Newberry Medal called, The One and Only Ivan-Katherine Applegate- a tragic story bout a Silverbac and an Elephant

Aryan - These are some of my favorite titles! I LOVED reading the One and Only Ivan. It was one of our class choices this year as a read aloud. I think the idea of a summer reading Olympics program is fantastic! I'll have to mention it to Ms. Kenny I bet she would be all for bringing it to Mill Pond.
I finished 2 great reads so far... Rain Reign I would give 4 1/2 stars ****1/2 and Fish in a Tree and would give that a five star rating *****
I'm starting the 4th Theodore Boone Mystery book and plan to also read the 5th.
Enjoy your visit to Pennsylvania!

Mrs. Buffone-
The 4th Theodore Boone book is amazing! It's probably my favorite Theodore Boone book! I am also looking forward to reading the 5th Theodore Boone and Max the Mighty! Reading Olympics would be awesome!! Also, could you tell me what Rain Reign and Fish in a Tree are about?

It took me the whole day, but I finished Alabama Moon! It was not at all what I expected but an excellent read! Honestly, I thought the part of the book we read in school was kind of boring, but the rest of the book had almost as much action as Harry Potter! And if I compare a book to Harry Potter, it must be an awesome book! There will be a copy at the Westborough Public Library as soon as I return it!

Ahhhhhhh! "Red Kayak" is amazing! I can relate so many books to it... like "Holes", "Stepping on the Cracks", and "Deep and Dark and Dangerous!" The book includes sooooo much courage, affection/touching moments, suspense, and red herons. I love it!

Christine - I'm so glad you found "Red Kayak" so amazing. I selected this several years ago for a parent/student book talk and we went WAY over our typical 1 1/2 hour meeting time. There was so much to talk about in this richly written book! I've just started "Trouble" which is by the same author who wrote "The Wednesday War" which you read. I'll keep you posted on it. So far it is a page turner.
Happy reading - thanks for blogging. Be sure to have Skylar and Rebecca post about what they are reading too!

Alex - Wow, you are truly a voracious reader! I too made many connections between Home of the Brave and A Long Walk to Water. I really enjoyed them both!
I just finished reading an adult non-fiction book titled Stronger. I decided that If I'm asking you all to challenge yourselves with non-fiction I have to do the same : )
It was the story of Jeff Bauman who lost both legs in the Boston Marathon bombing. It truly reflected the strength and perseverance of the human spirit. I recommend it for adults - you all can read it it college : )
Trouble is the title of my newest young adult read. It is by the same author who wrote The Wednesday Wars that I know so many of you enjoyed. I'll keep you posted on how it is. I'm only on chapter 3 so far but boy does it have my attention!
Happy Reading - thanks for all the blogging!

Hi Everyone!
I've had a really active reading week! I read Alabama Moon and Home of the Brave. I started reading Red Kayak today! Has anyone heard of Dirt Road Home, the sequel of Alabama Moon? I also made a Goodreads account! Goodreads has given me a ton of titles, my reading list now has 56 titles!

Mallika I can't wait to read this book! Thanks for blogging about it. I have to get to Tatnuck to buy it. I've been reading up a storm too. I finished the Theodore Boone The Activist book and Trouble. Trouble was an amazing story about cultural prejudice and overcoming tragedy. It was written by the author of The Wednesday Wars. I would give it a solid 41/2 stars. I'm looking forward to the start of school. Until then keep reading and having fun.
